02/08/2012: olympics

0 epic comments
The reason why I’m so tired today...

I went to the Olympics! Yes, yesterday we went to the Olympics to see two games of hockey. I had to wake up at 5:30am and we all had to leave at around 6:30, and we got to the Olympic park at around 7:30.

The Olympic Park is so beautiful and big! The main stadium is massive up close, and there are so many others dotted all around the place. There were crowds and crowds of people, a massive queue to the biggest Macdonald’s in the world and shouting and screaming coming from some of the stadiums every now and then. The atmosphere was amazing. When we got there, the park had only just opened, and the only people going in were the ones that, like us, were going to see the Hockey as it was the first event of the day. The security is just like at the airport but a lot faster, and there were random people with foam hands pointing the way to go. Everyone was so excited, especially the Americans we spotted!

When we got there we were amazed at how big it was. It literally takes 20 minutes or more to walk from one end to the other. Hockey is at the Riverbank Arena so we followed the signs and once we got here we were again amazed at the size of it. The staff were really friendly and showed us to our seats. We got there when the stadium wasn’t even half full and the hockey teams were warming up. It was funny hearing the Spanish team speaking Spanish to each other.

Hockey is actually really entertaining and I definitely think it’s good as or better than football. We got to see two games over four hours. The first was Spain v Australia. I was obviously supposed to support Spain, but 90% of everybody in the stadium were supporting Australia and around about the 0-3 mark I may have sneakily changed sides. The end score was 0-5 (Australia winning). The second game was Belgium v Netherlands, with us supporting the Netherlands. Half of the people were supporting Belgium and half Netherlands really, and the end score was 1-3 (Netherlands winning). There were lots of Mexican waves around the stadium, and the best was five in a row! I had so much fun.

It’s funny because I hate Sport with a burning passion. I groan at the start of a day when I realise I have P.E. I can’t hit a ball to save my life and the only thing I really seem to be good at is long jump or maybe cross country. I couldn’t do well in anything else even if I was offered a lifetime supply of chocolate (which would be very tempting). The thing is with the Olympics is that you can enjoy Sport without any physical exertion and you can judge athletes however you like because you know you don’t have to go up and do it yourself. J

After the hockey we decided to have lunch in Macdonalds. Did I realise it’s the biggest one in the world? There was a queue all down the side of the building and a queue up to the door once inside at every till. The queue actually moved quite fast though and we only had to wait for 15 or 20 minutes. Once we had our food it was really hard to find a table, and after 10 minutes we finally spotted one and ran there as fast as we could.

We then decided to have a walk around. We spotted the BBC studio which is basically a glass box on top of a temporary building, but you can’t see in very well from the outside. HELEN SKELTON also walked past us! I was the only one who spotted her and was so surprised I forgot to take a photo or say “OMIGOD YOU’RE THAT PRESENTER!” as loud as I could. Oh well, maybe it’s just as well I didn’t. We walked right through the garden part of the park which is just beautiful. There’s wildflowers everywhere and hills and a massive screen that shows the main Olympic event going on live. When we went to see the screen, there were hundreds or maybe thousands of people watching it… those dots behind it are even more people, the side that we were on was quiet compared to the other.

We then did some wandering around and stood next to the Velodrome for a bit. It’s massive.

We got home at 5:30pm, and I was so tired. That was my day yesterday. I had such a great day and if you haven’t been to the Olympics yet, speak to your parents because there are still some tickets on sale that you can buy and pick up on the day.

So that’s about it for this post! The only thing I have to report today is Ruby posted a couple of tweets on my account so I did major paypack by hacking into her Twitter and changing her profile photo, background, name and bio to very attractive pictures and bits of writing. Um… hehe. Sorry my Ruby Dooby, I meant it as a joke, and went kind of far with it. J

Oh, and I’ve discovered the Youtuber Meekakitty. She’s so cool, check her out :D

One of Meekakitty's collab music videos, which helped me discover the band hellogoodbye today. This is my favourite song by them out of all the ones I've listened to so far.
It's so cute. :D I would also check out her video "How to get a boy to like you", it's so funny!

Been listening to so much music lately

I just re-read yesterday’s post, and it’s so boring. Sorry for boring you all. I doubt you even read it at all :P

Anyway, I have been listening to so much music lately. Different music. This post is kind of inspired by Emma’s post about the Beatles (the fact that she didn’t know John Lennon was murdered in the 80s made me laugh so hard, and also that she wanted to see him in concert – no offence meant) but I really have been listening to different music lately.

When I was, I dunno, 9 or something, I used to watch the top 40 every week. Ew, is all I can say. Then there was a kind of stage when I didn’t listen to music at all, then I was into Adele a lot, and now I’ve really been branching out a bit. I’ve got to say, like Emma, I’ve been listening to a bit of the Beatles and I really wish they were all still around. I’ve also been listening to some more modern music that I’ve really fallen in love with, like Scouting for Girls, Maroon 5 and Coldplay. Okay, they’ve all been in the charts at some point, and Coldplay is almost definitely in the charts right now, but they’re different. I’m not exactly listening to Jay-Z or whoever people seem to be obsessed with now (Drake or something? Haha). I know Maroon 5 had Payphone in the charts, but I like some of their older songs, like She Will Be Loved. It’s the same with Coldplay with songs like Yellow, Shiver and Fix You.

I also just love Scouting for Girls so much. I really love the meaning in their songs and just their voices omg. :)

Lately I’ve also been painting and drawing a lot, and doing my Wreck this Journal. I love it because it’s a fun way to practice art. I also really want to write a story over the summer, but I have no idea what about. –sigh–

Today I went shopping with my nan. I bought three tops from Tammy at BHs, one for £14, one for £3.60 and one for £3. The £14 one is just so gorgeous I had to buy it. It’s bright blue with “L♥VE” on it with Aztec-pattern writing. I’ll post a photo of it tomorrow. The £3.60 one is white with red hearts, and the £3 one just grey and white stripes to wear at the beach.

Also, today the Olympics start! Yay! We’re going to watch the opening ceremony on the TV and on Wednesday we’re going to see men’s hockey, Australia v Spain. Obviously, my mum will be supporting Spain, but my Dad and I are probably going to support Australia just to annoy her. :)

I’ve also been reading lots of different blogs. I’m still in love with the Dainty Squid and One Sheepish Girl, and absolutely jealous of Savannah from Maiedae’s blog designing skills, but I’ve also been discovering new blogs like The Flowerchild Dwelling (I also love her blog design, like wow).

That’s about it for today. Sorry if it was a little jumbled up and boring again. I leave you with ‘Love How it Hurts’ by Scouting for Girls, which has the cutest but saddest music video of all time. Bye! x

25/07/2012: 'mr blue sky' by electric light orchestra

Sun is shining in the sky, there ain't a cloud in sight J

I told you I'd post every day!

Today is so HOT. Gosh. It's even hotter than yesterday which was hot, I'm telling you. The title is a lie though, because for once there are actually clouds in the sky. All I want is to jump into a big pool of water, which Emma is apparently doing today with Mary. -cries-

I'm going on holiday next Friday though, for two weeks and a half, and hopefully the weather's going to be even hotter than it is now in Spain. I just want to dive into a massive pool of water and float for hours. :P Or run through a sprinkler.

Today hasn't been very interesting, I just went to the shops with my nan and iMessaging Jasmine, wondering whether to go on The Sims 3 or not. The Sims is so addictive, I'm telling you. I have no idea why Ruby owns it yet never plays it. You sit yourself down at 3pm and think, 'I will play The Sims for an hour.' and before you know it it's 10pm.

I'm also going to work on changing the colours of the title, background etc. on my blog, without changing the design at all. I'm going to try some yellows, oranges and reds, to match the sunny weather. I'm ashamed to say I stole Emma's layout and font, because Century Gothic is just too beautiful. Do you remember when I used to have the titles in a gradient (like my signature), and I always used to put an Instagram photo in every post? Or when I first got a blog, and my posts would literally be one sentence each ('I'm going to have hot chocolate.') - I mean, I might as well have got Twitter at that point.

Anyway, so in this post I also thought I'd update you quickly on my life in the past few months. Nothing major has happened. I've been on my summer holidays since Monday. I've made better friends with lots of people at school I only 'knew', and I've been enjoying school a lot recently. It isn't full of chavs, I swear! We're getting a new head teacher from September which will hopefully be good for our school. Haha, I sound like a snob, don't I? :)

I didn't have any homework for the whole of last week, which was a relief. On Thursday, we had something called 'Form Activities Day'. Basically, we were in our forms for the whole day, and each period we had to do a different activity against other forms. Because we have vertical tutoring it was apparently good 'team building' (...) School on Friday ended at 12:45, and we had a nearly two hour end-of-year assembly. I swear I couldn't feel my bum after that. I don't have any homework for the whole of summer though, which I am insanely happy about. It's so POINTLESS.

I didn't do much at the weekend apart from going to Alice's party (not Alice from primary school, a different one) and frolicking in the sun. I got a Sims 3 expansion pack, too.

I've said this so many times already, but I'm so glad I'm blogging again! It's such a good feeling. I missed it so much. I guess it's just a way to keep in touch with all my primary school friends, especially Emma, because she keeps a blog herself. I wish I saw you all more often.

:[

Alrighty, I think that's about it. Keep an eye on the blog design for any colour changes. I'll be back tomorrow, and please please please post on the chat (click 'leave a message' below the title). Right now I'm going off to wreck my journal. Bye!

I almost forgot again!
