29/07/2012: shopping and a sunday full of awesomeness

Shopping with Meloner J

…or more like window shopping :]

I went up to town with Eleanor today, and had so much fun! I hadn’t seen her in ageeeesss, and I missed her so much. I waited for 10 minutes outside the ice cream shop in the pouring rain - it's the end of July and freezing. When she finally came over, after one minute of awkwardness ('Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii…') we got over it and started talking like mad about school, friends, etc. We went to Starbucks and shared a caramel Frappuccino and had lunch. It was just so lovely! We then looked around the shops and each bought sparkly nail varnish from Claire’s in green. It’s so gorgeous, but really hard to fill in and get neat and tidy!

We were going to go to the library but then realised it’s closed on Sundays, so we went to Waterstone’s instead. We recommended books to each other and spent 20 minutes cross-legged next to the teenage books section just reading. She bought a book but I didn’t have enough money, but I saw some really good books there and next time I go out I’m going to buy two or three.

The first book that I’m definitely going to buy is After buy Morris Gleitzman. I practically screamed when I saw this. I’ve read the Once/Then/Now books (that I always thought was a trilogy) and then found out that it’s actually a quadrilogy! I was so happy. After has only just come out and I was so upset I couldn’t buy it straight away.

After the Nazis took my parents I was scared
After they killed my best friend I was angry
After they ruined my thirteenth birthday I was determined
To get to the forest
To join forces with Gabriek and Yuli
To be a family
To defeat the Nazis after all

DOESN’T IT SOUND SO AMAZING. I honestly can’t wait to read it. It has the most gorgeous (but sad) red cover with two adults and a child holding hands. Oh, I want to read it so badly.

I saw a couple of other books as well. One was Uglies by Scott Westerfield. If you’ve been living under a rock, it’s about a future that revolves around plastic surgery and looking perfect. Everybody under 16 is natural and are called the ‘Uglies’. They live isolated by everybody 16 and over and feel like they’re not good enough. The main character can’t wait until she gets to 16 and becomes ‘Pretty’, but her friend isn’t so sure, and runs away. It sounds so good. I love dystopian books, as long as they’re not copied or based on the most popular ones, and this one sounds so original. I think I’ll love it.

After that we just looked around a bit more, then went home. I got back at around 4:15. Before I left I had been transforming the covers of my Wreck this Journal, and it looks like a beautiful mess right now. I’ll get photos to you soon! I’ve been watching Olympic synchronised diving, China are so good! It’s amazing looking at how in synch and together they are, and how they do complicated twists and somersaults without stepping out of line. Right now I think I might go on the Sims or just Twitter or Tumblr.

Bye! xox

28/07/2012: drooling over the olympic opening ceremony

2 epic comments
So I stayed up last night to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony.

I’m so tired.

But hey, the wait is finally over, the Olympics are here! *Cue cheering and clapping*. Yesterday marked the beginning of the London 2012 Olympics with an amazing opening ceremony (that went on for almost four hours…) that went out to the world. I stayed up, all on my own, until 1am watching it. Oh well.

I really, really loved it. I loved the creativity and originality of it and the fact that it represented what it means to be British so amazingly. I’ve been reading reviews from the USA, which are mostly negative. I guess I can kind of understand it, seeing as you really had to be British to understand the opening ceremony, but apparently there was a commentary on NBC that gave you more than enough information about it all.

Oh yes, NBC. That reminds me. During the opening ceremony they had an amazing tribute to the victims of the 7/7 bombings. It was just so beautiful. And do you know what the NBC, the national broadcaster for the USA, did apart from putting in endless advert breaks and making negative comments about other countries? THEY CUT OUT THE 7/7 BOMBINGS TRIBUTE.

If the BBC cut a 9/11 tribute for an interview there would be complete outrage from the USA World War III.

Anyway, the opening ceremony really was beautiful. And the cauldron, OH THE CAULDRON, THE BEAUTIFUL CAULDRON THAT WAS FORMED FROM 204 LITTLE TUBE THINGS

THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL.

And Mr Bean was just so funny, like omg.

THE QUEEN AND JAMES BOND

“Good evening, Mr Bond.”

:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Then… then…

PAUL MCCARTNEY SANG HEY JUDE!

IT WAS JUST SO PERFECT.

Excuse the hyperventilation. That was my evening. Today I’m so tired and I’m walking around like a zombie everywhere. I’m going to play The Sims soon and tomorrow I’m planning on doing as many pages of my Wreck this Journal that are humanly possible to complete in one day. Wish me luck. I’m also going to see if I can meet up with Eleanor (Melon Head) because Emma is too busy packing for her holiday.

Sorry for the rubbish, disjointed and hyper post. My posts will improve in time.

I hate stereotypes K

Seeing as I honestly have nothing really at all to talk about, I thought I'd start the post on with a little rant here. I hate stereotypes. I hate when people look at one thing and think "That's so emo/hipster/scene/whatever." and then whenever they see or hear of someone who owns said thing, they instantly judge them. I also hate when people label themselves emo/hipster/scene/whatever when they honestly don't know the meaning of the word.

Hipster isn't about wearing fake glasses and the shortest shorts ever and wearing a top with "Nirvana" on when you've never even heard of them. The whole point of "hipster" is being different, taking interest in retro things and not following the crowd. By saying you're "hipster" you are following the crowd. It's just stupid. Real hipsters actually know what the meaning of the word is, and don't take interest in things just because they're meant to be "hipster" or whatever, and not because they actually like them.

Also, even though hipsters seem to like them, Wreck this Journal isn't "hipster". It's anything but. It's a really creative way to pass the time and it's really theraputic, or whatever you want to call it.

I'm just sick of people on the internet making assumptions and trying to be what they're not.

ANYWAY, today was actually pretty boring, apart from when some random 80-year-old or something woman stopped my nan and I, and started randomly talking to us and saying  that I was really lovely or something along those lines. We'd never seen her in our lives. It was pretty weird. She said she was going dancing in London, and something about her being on a BBC 2 documentary called "Grannies Moving In". My nan and I had a laugh about it later, but I've just been looking on the internet and she's in the early stages of Dementia. I feel so bad now. We were nice enough to her, but I still feel really sad. At least she's enjoying herself... stopping random strangers to talk to them.

This is a kind of mixed and random post, sorry about that. :)

So yep... I don't really know what to talk about to be honest. I wanted to meet up with Emma on Sunday but she probably won't be able to, because she has to pack for Florida, etc. I don't really know what to do with myself at the moment. I'm thinking of doing some Wreck this Journal, maybe finishing decorating the cover, then playing The Sims.

Also, yesterday I changed the blog design to more warmer colours. Do you like it? Can more of you pleease post in the chat? I get pretty bored, and it's something to look at.

Bye! x x

25/07/2012: 'mr blue sky' by electric light orchestra

Sun is shining in the sky, there ain't a cloud in sight J

I told you I'd post every day!

Today is so HOT. Gosh. It's even hotter than yesterday which was hot, I'm telling you. The title is a lie though, because for once there are actually clouds in the sky. All I want is to jump into a big pool of water, which Emma is apparently doing today with Mary. -cries-

I'm going on holiday next Friday though, for two weeks and a half, and hopefully the weather's going to be even hotter than it is now in Spain. I just want to dive into a massive pool of water and float for hours. :P Or run through a sprinkler.

Today hasn't been very interesting, I just went to the shops with my nan and iMessaging Jasmine, wondering whether to go on The Sims 3 or not. The Sims is so addictive, I'm telling you. I have no idea why Ruby owns it yet never plays it. You sit yourself down at 3pm and think, 'I will play The Sims for an hour.' and before you know it it's 10pm.

I'm also going to work on changing the colours of the title, background etc. on my blog, without changing the design at all. I'm going to try some yellows, oranges and reds, to match the sunny weather. I'm ashamed to say I stole Emma's layout and font, because Century Gothic is just too beautiful. Do you remember when I used to have the titles in a gradient (like my signature), and I always used to put an Instagram photo in every post? Or when I first got a blog, and my posts would literally be one sentence each ('I'm going to have hot chocolate.') - I mean, I might as well have got Twitter at that point.

Anyway, so in this post I also thought I'd update you quickly on my life in the past few months. Nothing major has happened. I've been on my summer holidays since Monday. I've made better friends with lots of people at school I only 'knew', and I've been enjoying school a lot recently. It isn't full of chavs, I swear! We're getting a new head teacher from September which will hopefully be good for our school. Haha, I sound like a snob, don't I? :)

I didn't have any homework for the whole of last week, which was a relief. On Thursday, we had something called 'Form Activities Day'. Basically, we were in our forms for the whole day, and each period we had to do a different activity against other forms. Because we have vertical tutoring it was apparently good 'team building' (...) School on Friday ended at 12:45, and we had a nearly two hour end-of-year assembly. I swear I couldn't feel my bum after that. I don't have any homework for the whole of summer though, which I am insanely happy about. It's so POINTLESS.

I didn't do much at the weekend apart from going to Alice's party (not Alice from primary school, a different one) and frolicking in the sun. I got a Sims 3 expansion pack, too.

I've said this so many times already, but I'm so glad I'm blogging again! It's such a good feeling. I missed it so much. I guess it's just a way to keep in touch with all my primary school friends, especially Emma, because she keeps a blog herself. I wish I saw you all more often.

:[

Alrighty, I think that's about it. Keep an eye on the blog design for any colour changes. I'll be back tomorrow, and please please please post on the chat (click 'leave a message' below the title). Right now I'm going off to wreck my journal. Bye!

I almost forgot again!
