27/07/2012: music, art and shopping

Been listening to so much music lately

I just re-read yesterday’s post, and it’s so boring. Sorry for boring you all. I doubt you even read it at all :P

Anyway, I have been listening to so much music lately. Different music. This post is kind of inspired by Emma’s post about the Beatles (the fact that she didn’t know John Lennon was murdered in the 80s made me laugh so hard, and also that she wanted to see him in concert – no offence meant) but I really have been listening to different music lately.

When I was, I dunno, 9 or something, I used to watch the top 40 every week. Ew, is all I can say. Then there was a kind of stage when I didn’t listen to music at all, then I was into Adele a lot, and now I’ve really been branching out a bit. I’ve got to say, like Emma, I’ve been listening to a bit of the Beatles and I really wish they were all still around. I’ve also been listening to some more modern music that I’ve really fallen in love with, like Scouting for Girls, Maroon 5 and Coldplay. Okay, they’ve all been in the charts at some point, and Coldplay is almost definitely in the charts right now, but they’re different. I’m not exactly listening to Jay-Z or whoever people seem to be obsessed with now (Drake or something? Haha). I know Maroon 5 had Payphone in the charts, but I like some of their older songs, like She Will Be Loved. It’s the same with Coldplay with songs like Yellow, Shiver and Fix You.

I also just love Scouting for Girls so much. I really love the meaning in their songs and just their voices omg. :)

Lately I’ve also been painting and drawing a lot, and doing my Wreck this Journal. I love it because it’s a fun way to practice art. I also really want to write a story over the summer, but I have no idea what about. –sigh–

Today I went shopping with my nan. I bought three tops from Tammy at BHs, one for £14, one for £3.60 and one for £3. The £14 one is just so gorgeous I had to buy it. It’s bright blue with “L♥VE” on it with Aztec-pattern writing. I’ll post a photo of it tomorrow. The £3.60 one is white with red hearts, and the £3 one just grey and white stripes to wear at the beach.

Also, today the Olympics start! Yay! We’re going to watch the opening ceremony on the TV and on Wednesday we’re going to see men’s hockey, Australia v Spain. Obviously, my mum will be supporting Spain, but my Dad and I are probably going to support Australia just to annoy her. :)

I’ve also been reading lots of different blogs. I’m still in love with the Dainty Squid and One Sheepish Girl, and absolutely jealous of Savannah from Maiedae’s blog designing skills, but I’ve also been discovering new blogs like The Flowerchild Dwelling (I also love her blog design, like wow).

That’s about it for today. Sorry if it was a little jumbled up and boring again. I leave you with ‘Love How it Hurts’ by Scouting for Girls, which has the cutest but saddest music video of all time. Bye! x

I hate stereotypes K

Seeing as I honestly have nothing really at all to talk about, I thought I'd start the post on with a little rant here. I hate stereotypes. I hate when people look at one thing and think "That's so emo/hipster/scene/whatever." and then whenever they see or hear of someone who owns said thing, they instantly judge them. I also hate when people label themselves emo/hipster/scene/whatever when they honestly don't know the meaning of the word.

Hipster isn't about wearing fake glasses and the shortest shorts ever and wearing a top with "Nirvana" on when you've never even heard of them. The whole point of "hipster" is being different, taking interest in retro things and not following the crowd. By saying you're "hipster" you are following the crowd. It's just stupid. Real hipsters actually know what the meaning of the word is, and don't take interest in things just because they're meant to be "hipster" or whatever, and not because they actually like them.

Also, even though hipsters seem to like them, Wreck this Journal isn't "hipster". It's anything but. It's a really creative way to pass the time and it's really theraputic, or whatever you want to call it.

I'm just sick of people on the internet making assumptions and trying to be what they're not.

ANYWAY, today was actually pretty boring, apart from when some random 80-year-old or something woman stopped my nan and I, and started randomly talking to us and saying  that I was really lovely or something along those lines. We'd never seen her in our lives. It was pretty weird. She said she was going dancing in London, and something about her being on a BBC 2 documentary called "Grannies Moving In". My nan and I had a laugh about it later, but I've just been looking on the internet and she's in the early stages of Dementia. I feel so bad now. We were nice enough to her, but I still feel really sad. At least she's enjoying herself... stopping random strangers to talk to them.

This is a kind of mixed and random post, sorry about that. :)

So yep... I don't really know what to talk about to be honest. I wanted to meet up with Emma on Sunday but she probably won't be able to, because she has to pack for Florida, etc. I don't really know what to do with myself at the moment. I'm thinking of doing some Wreck this Journal, maybe finishing decorating the cover, then playing The Sims.

Also, yesterday I changed the blog design to more warmer colours. Do you like it? Can more of you pleease post in the chat? I get pretty bored, and it's something to look at.

Bye! x x

Sun is shining in the sky, there ain't a cloud in sight J

I told you I'd post every day!

Today is so HOT. Gosh. It's even hotter than yesterday which was hot, I'm telling you. The title is a lie though, because for once there are actually clouds in the sky. All I want is to jump into a big pool of water, which Emma is apparently doing today with Mary. -cries-

I'm going on holiday next Friday though, for two weeks and a half, and hopefully the weather's going to be even hotter than it is now in Spain. I just want to dive into a massive pool of water and float for hours. :P Or run through a sprinkler.

Today hasn't been very interesting, I just went to the shops with my nan and iMessaging Jasmine, wondering whether to go on The Sims 3 or not. The Sims is so addictive, I'm telling you. I have no idea why Ruby owns it yet never plays it. You sit yourself down at 3pm and think, 'I will play The Sims for an hour.' and before you know it it's 10pm.

I'm also going to work on changing the colours of the title, background etc. on my blog, without changing the design at all. I'm going to try some yellows, oranges and reds, to match the sunny weather. I'm ashamed to say I stole Emma's layout and font, because Century Gothic is just too beautiful. Do you remember when I used to have the titles in a gradient (like my signature), and I always used to put an Instagram photo in every post? Or when I first got a blog, and my posts would literally be one sentence each ('I'm going to have hot chocolate.') - I mean, I might as well have got Twitter at that point.

Anyway, so in this post I also thought I'd update you quickly on my life in the past few months. Nothing major has happened. I've been on my summer holidays since Monday. I've made better friends with lots of people at school I only 'knew', and I've been enjoying school a lot recently. It isn't full of chavs, I swear! We're getting a new head teacher from September which will hopefully be good for our school. Haha, I sound like a snob, don't I? :)

I didn't have any homework for the whole of last week, which was a relief. On Thursday, we had something called 'Form Activities Day'. Basically, we were in our forms for the whole day, and each period we had to do a different activity against other forms. Because we have vertical tutoring it was apparently good 'team building' (...) School on Friday ended at 12:45, and we had a nearly two hour end-of-year assembly. I swear I couldn't feel my bum after that. I don't have any homework for the whole of summer though, which I am insanely happy about. It's so POINTLESS.

I didn't do much at the weekend apart from going to Alice's party (not Alice from primary school, a different one) and frolicking in the sun. I got a Sims 3 expansion pack, too.

I've said this so many times already, but I'm so glad I'm blogging again! It's such a good feeling. I missed it so much. I guess it's just a way to keep in touch with all my primary school friends, especially Emma, because she keeps a blog herself. I wish I saw you all more often.

:[

Alrighty, I think that's about it. Keep an eye on the blog design for any colour changes. I'll be back tomorrow, and please please please post on the chat (click 'leave a message' below the title). Right now I'm going off to wreck my journal. Bye!

24/07/2012: the relaunch

THE RELAUNCH

WELL, I’M BACK MY LOVELIES.

Argh, I’ve missed blogging so much. I can’t believe I actually deleted all the posts on this blog that long time ago, but yes, I’m guessing it’s a kind of clean canvas now. I’m happy to say my life is better than ever, and summer starts now.

I’m sorry I kept making new blogs, but this will be my only one now and I’m keeping the design, which is subject to change colour themes; I’m thinking of changing the colours to warm ones, to match the weather. I’ll just be changing the colours and that’s it. Please comment ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the chat area for that one.

I’d like to post a massive long paragraph about what’s happened in my life lately, but I honestly haven’t blogged for ages and to be honest, I’m too lazy. All I know is that my life has been awesome and from today, if possible, I’ll be posting every day, just like I used to. I have really missed putting in the effort blogging, and I think that even if Emma and I are going to be the only ones reading my posts, it’s not going to do be any harm. It’s summer now and I have oodles of time to post every day, so expect frequent posting!

Oh, and the post lengths might change. Weekend posts, especially on Sundays, will be really long, but weekday posts (even if it is summer) might be quite short. It depends on what time I have at that moment.

A thing I also thought I’d like to include in this post is Instagram. For a few months, I was completely addicted and insanely serious about it. I took photos every day and I had 2k+, but I haven’t been on it for a couple of weeks now. It just took up so much of my time: I was checking it virtually every minute. It would distract me from more important things. I left without a message and that’s the way it’s going to stay for now, but now that it’s summer, that may change later on.

Oh, and on request, I’d like to say HEY-HO to arguably one of the most awesomest people on Earth, Anjali. She goes to my school and shizz, and I think she’s going to read my blog… if she can be bothered. So hey there, Anjali. :3 She is da baws! Anjali, click on "leave a message" up the top and say hey to everybody.

One more thing I’d  like to ask is what kind of things you want me to blog about. Do you want me to post what I do every day, random thoughts, photos, or maybe all of those? I was thinking long posts like I used to along with photos which I started doing before I stopped blogging. Please say in the chat section along with whether you think I should change to a more ‘warm’ colour scheme.

That’s about it. I'm so happy right now. It's times like this when you realise how much you've missed certain parts of your life. I hope you liked the relaunch, and tell all your friends about my blog! C:

Oh, and before I forget...
a special message to you there, reading my blog!
